Row your boat gently

Another Day of Gratitude…

I woke up with this song in my head…

Row row row your boat

Gently down the stream

Merrily merrily merrily merrily

Life is but a dream

I read it in a thread earlier on this week and it has stuck with me. I love the way this song teaches me how to work it. Row gently. Not row angrily. Not row resentfully but row gently. Life is but a dream. I can make life a beautiful dream or a nightmare. The choice is mine. Nobody can row my boat for me but people like the one who wrote this song can teach me the way to do it. So I’m grateful today that I have a chance to row gently. Such a simple message but a powerful one for me…Life is good

How to Inspire

How to inspire manners to your children

1. When entering the house greet your children with salams and kisses. This should help develop their sense of love and mercy.

2. Be good to your neighbours and never backbite. Never speak ill of other drivers when on the road. Your children listen, absorb and emulate.

3. When calling your parents, encourage your children to speak to them. When visiting your parents take your children with you. The more they see you take care of your parents the more they will learn to take care of you.

4. When driving them say to school, don’t always play albums or cds (even if my cds!). Rather, tell them the stories yourself. This will have a greater impact – trust me!

5. Read to them a short hadith a day – it doesn’t take much time, but very impactful in creating strong bonds and wonderful memories.

6. Comb your hair, clean your teeth and wear presentable cloths even if sitting at home and not going out for the day. They need to learn that being clean and tidy has nothing to do with going out!

7. Try not to blame or comment on every word or action they say or do. Learn to overlook and let go sometimes. This certainly builds their self-confidence.

8. Ask your children’s permission before entering their rooms. Don’t just knock and enter, but then wait for a verbal permission. They will learn to do the same when wanting to enter your room.

9. Apologize to your children if you made a mistake. Apologizing teaches them to be humble and polite.

10. Don’t be sarcastic or make fun of their views or feelings, even if you “didn’t mean it” and was “only joking”. It really hurts.

11. Show respect to your children’s privacy. Its important for their sense of value and self-esteem.

12. Don’t expect that they will listen or understand the first time. Don’t take it personally. Muhammad ﷺ never did. But be patient and consistent.

Asalam aleykum?

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.”

Be brave.. Confront your fears.. Confront your challenges… Prove those pessimists in your life wrong!

Bir ışık sun ilahi  bize!

Gönlümüze nurlar dolsun.

Yollarımız çıksın düze,

Her arayan Sen’i bulsun.

Gökler yere rahmet döksün;

Ufuklarda şafak söksün;

Zulmetler yıkılıp çöksün;

Her yanda Nâmın duyulsun..

Gözler bunu gözlerimiz,

Yorgun ve bitkin hepimiz,

Evvel-âhir emelimiz,

Her gün şehrâyinler olsun…

Can kat cana ışığından!

Kuvvet gönder otağından!

Sun bir ziyâ nur çağından!

Evrren yeniden kurulsun.

FIRST Reminder. Friday. 6th day of Jumaadal Uulaa. ETIQUETTES OF THIS BLESSED DAY. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

Abu Huraira (R.A) reported that,  The Prophet (PBUH) said, “When it is a Friday, the Angels stand at the gate of each Mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the Mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumuah prayer) they (i.e. Angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba.” [Bukhari]
SubhaanAllah, Angels are listening to Khutba but unfortunately you will see many still outside talking on mobile phones etc.

How to perform Ghusulul Jumuat(spiritual bath for Friday prayers).

Ghusl has two kinds, Sufficient Ghusl and Complete Ghusl and both are accepted. They are as follows;

Sufficient Ghusl
This is done after Bismillah by just rinsing one’s mouth and nose, then washing the entire body with water but with intention of performing ghusul for Jumuat in your heart bcs the intention is what matters here.
After this kind of ghusul, please perform full wudoo before Salaat.

Complete ghusul is done by:
1. washing the private parts and anywhere else that is contaminated with any impurity.
2. Performing a full wudoo [Ablution].
3. Pour water over your head, making sure that it reaches the roots of the hair.
4. Finally wash your entire body starting from the right side of your body and then the left side. This can be used for Salaat but we must avoid touching our private part else we have to perform wudoo again. These are the same ghusul for our sisters after their monthly cycle etc.

We should also remember to recite suuratul Kahf(Qur’an chapter 18), clean our teeth and use perfume (only men) and wear our best cloths.
Please send more salawaat to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam (Allahummah Salli alaa Muhammad to the end). Women can use perfume at home but not when going out just to avoid causing fitnah to men or prevent men’s attention to them.

May Allah accept our prayers, forgive us our mistakes and grant us Jannatul Firdaus. Aameen.

Asalam aleykum?

Peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be achieved by understanding.

 Sometimes, waiting is the key to success because no matter what you do or how much you try if it’s not yet your time….its not yet your time.
Sad.. But it’s just the fact about life.
 Waalaykum salam
